It was a beautiful November morning; I arrived at Grand Junction airport on time. Pulling my bag behind me I was greeted by a pleasant woman from High Lonesome Ranch. She insisted that she loaded my bag and assisted me into the suburban.
It was a forty minute ride to the Ranch; the time went by fast talking and getting to know one another. I knew that this would be a good time as the company was pleasant.
As soon as I arrived I was greeted by other members of the High Lonesome Ranch family they were eager to show me around. Modern wildernesses, while you are here you own the place. A slogan I would soon come to embrace. I was not sure what I wanted to do first; this place is unbelievable over 300 secluded miles to discover, to hunt, and to fish and practically to myself.
After I settled my things in my room at the Pond house I choose to explore the house and outside before I was going to head out for a drive around the ranch. The pond outside is perfect for practicing my casting skills; the deer wandering the meadow was a site to see. So much wildlife wondering about, its hard not to be awed be the gorgeous scenery and back drop of the mountains around the ranch were breath taking. I was excited for the next few days at the Ranch exploring, my arrival was great, the people were friendly took their time to make sure I was comfortable in my lodging.
Dinner served at 7:30p.m, don’t be late! I took time out of exploring to change and got cleaned up. Cocktails at 7p.m. a great time to meet up with other guests staying at the ranch and talk about the day and what they planned to do while they were visiting. There is so much to explore and do in such a little time frame that you need to make time to come back again and again each year. The perfect spot for your fly fishing fanatic or avid big game hunter, if you prefer a more laid back vacation how about eco-tourism: guided meditation, hiking and a little yoga at sunset. If you are a into adventure go mountain biking through all the various trails and animal watch while you go. Whatever you like there is something for every one.
I was excited to get to bed so that I could get up nice and early to explore some more and try my hand at fly fishing. See you tomorrow early!
