St. George's Lodge is one of the world's premier fishing and scuba diving resorts on Saint George's Cay...an island only one and a half miles long and less than a mile from the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. St. George's Cay sits just eight miles from Belize City.
Saint George's Lodge is a small resort which has about 12 rooms in the main lodge adjecent to the bar. There are 6 thatched cottages behind the main lodge located over the water in a cove surrounded by mangroves. They are renovating a large building which will contain 3 bedrooms, a conference center, with a hot tub on the room. There is a beautiful view from the roof and you can see the whole island. St. George's Island is a small island without the commercial aspects of the larger islands.
The location is perfect for short boat trips to some of the best fishing and diving locations in Belize and fantastic trips to the rainforest. Combine fishing, diving, and snorkeling with trips to the Maya temples, horseback riding, and rainforest!
Lodge
The lodge has remained a small and personable resort with eight rooms and six cottages. Traditionally, we have not catered to large numbers of guests, preferring instead to respond to the needs of those few who seek the superior experience. It boasts one of the highest guest repeat rates in the industry!
It was the first dedicated dive resort in Belize and continues to strive to be the best. Come stay for awhile and experience Belizean hospitality at its best!
Hand-crafted of exquisite local hardwoods, the main lodge contains the dining room, rosewood bar area and eight guest rooms. All rooms have private baths, hot showers and 24-hour 120 volt AC electricity. There is also a wireless internet connection and a laptop in the lounge for guest use. Email, phone and fax services are also available.
Activities
Delicious and imaginative meals featuring homemade soups, fresh baked breads, seafood and local dishes are served family style in the open air dining room. Hot coffee or tea and freshly squeezed orange juice will arrive outside your door by 6:30 each morning. Healthier conscious diners appreciate our fresh fruits and vegetables and special dietary requests can usually be accommodated.
The inland adventure trips offer fun-filled rainforest adventures exploring Maya temples, fishing, tubing in rivers, siteseeing on horseback, treking through caves and zipping above the jungle canopy! So many activities to choose from, so little time...
On the island, enjoy kayaking, take a wave runner snorkel trip, enjoy a leisure sail on board the lodge's "Hobiie Cat" sailboats, go deep sea trolling or fly fishing , swim, snorkel or just relax in the ocean breeze with your favorite book. Its all just waiting for you!
Guests may arrive or depart any day of the week, so you have total flexibility in planning a vacation to suit your schedule and interests.
