The High Lonesome Ranch sits in a fertile valley on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies. With over 300 square miles of deeded and permitted access, the ranch is a quick 30-minute drive from Grand Junction's Walker Field Airport.
Guests have the opportunity to fish two ranches in every trip. At The High Lonesome Ranch in Debeque you’ll sight cast to brookies, browns, rainbows and cuttbows on a unique, 30-pond, spring creek fishery. Each pond is spring fed and connected by a spring creek. Most fly-fishermen yawn at the thought of stillwater fishing, but these ponds are addictive. They vary in depth and are crystal clear. Hooked fish race past blow downs, weed beds, and ledges and are a challenge to get to the net. Sight fishing to cruising trout tests the skills and nerves of some of the most seasoned anglers. Single-man pontoon boats, oars, anchors, and life preservers are tastefully positioned on the banks for guest use.
After a day or two, continue your trip to their sister property, the historic K-T Ranch in Meeker. Experience world-class dry fly-fishing on 7 miles on the legendary White River. If you enjoy sight fishing, then challenge the 20+ inch browns and rainbows on one of three private Spring Creeks. Complete your trip with a drift boat trip on the renowned Colorado or the Roaring Fork. New for 2010 is the K-T as a stand-alone fishing package, as well as the addition of ½ mile of additional water on the White River and a third spring creek.
The High Lonesome Ranch offers master suites with private bathrooms as well as shared accommodations. Our a
ward winning-chef prepares contemporary ranch cuisine each evening. There are plenty of activities for non fly-fishers. Our guests enjoy horseback riding, hiking, birding, golf, and mountain biking to name a few. In the fall, hunt pheasant, Hungarian and chucker partridge, and Scaled and Gambel’s quail with English pointers and Labrador retrievers. Two full-time dog trainers are on the property, and the ranch has a new, 46-dog kennel. Warm up for your day of hunting with an assortment of shooting games, which range from 5-Stand, a Driven Flurry, and a Pheasant or a Quail Walk. If you like to fish and bird hunt try our Spring Cast and Blast (Merriam turkey/trout) or our Fall Cast and Blast (Upland Birds/Trout). Airport pick-ups available on request.
From sight fishing on the ranch spring fed ponds to a drift boat fish on either the Colorado or Roaring Fork rivers, to a walk and wade on the K-T’s White River and sight fishing on one of the K-T’s three spring creeks, we guaranteed that you will be over fished.
At the end of each fishing day, anglers will enjoy contemporary ranch cuisine paired with the evening’s featured winery and their wines. After dinner, relax around the firepit with live entertainment a presentation of exquisite Napa Valley and Sonoma wines. Learn more about the vineyards and the wines and discuss fishing with some of the foremost authorities on the subject. The total value of wine that will be poured is $20,000, and it’s all available to you.
