Mexico
Unless
you have been there, it is impossible to image a place like Mexico...
the vast bays, the immense expanse of flats, hidden lagoons rimmed
with mangroves... an endless, isolated world of turquoise shallows,
it seems. Pelicans and frigates hover above the small islands catching
the rising currents of air; herons and ibis wade and hunt the margins.
Rays and lobster track the bottom. Barracuda hang motionless...
and then are gone. And again and again, passing like a cloud over
the flats, come permit and bonefish in schools, pushing water, trailing,
cutting their own curious paths across the sand, through the turtle-grass,
awaiting your cast, your strike. It is hard to imagine the surge
of adrenaline as you lift your rod, the line sizzling through the
water. It almost seems as if time is suspended. It is a moment impossible
to forget. An image that stays with you, in the mind's eye, long
after you have put away the rod and returned home to civilization.

Belize
Bonefish
are very large and the fish avenge in size from 3 to 7 pounds. It
is common to see vast schools of Bonefish tailing on the hard carol
flats just inside the reef. These same mangrove studded flats that
comprise the interior of the Atoll are also home to Bonefish and
Permit. Permit are plentiful in these waters and it is here where
you can accomplish one of the most difficult tasks; a Permit on
the fly!! It is therefore one of the few areas in the world where
you have a chance to catch a grand slam; a bonefish, Permit and
Tarpon all in one day. The size of the Tarpon vary from small to
100 pound monsters in the summer months. The creeks and deep channels
that penetrate the Atoll are literally littered with Tarpon holes.
If the shallow water species are not what you want, then try the
blue water right in front of the lodge. Wahoo, King Mackerel, Tuna,
Dorado, Barracuda, Blue Runners, Horse-eyed Jacks, Snapper and many
others round out the diverse fishing opportunities in Belize.

The
fishing can be described as nothing less than fabulous. We fish
on the west side of Abaco in about 400 square miles of intertwining
islands, channels and flats. The entire area is an estuary where
literally hundreds of thousands of bonefish live and feed; spending
the better part of the day cruising the flats looking for something
to eat.

Imagine
yourself in solitary remote tropical waters. The silence is broken
by a giant Tarpon's thunderous leap - Twisting, turning as you set
the hook in his iron mouth. Often the Tarpon will leap 12 feet and
jump 5 or 6 times before you get him to the boat. All Tarpon are
carefully lipgaffed, hoisted for photo, and released to assure the
future of Cannon Island's continued successful fishery.

For the
light tackle or flyfishing enthusiast, the Lower Laguna Madre area
has no equal. Due to conservation efforts over the past decade,
both the redfish and trout have rebounded in large numbers giving
way to this opportunity. The gin clear water, coupled with the immense
opportunities for redfish, trout and black drum. All of our local
guides are well seasoned and are equally versed in both conventional
and flyfishing techniques. Fishing for pelagics such as blue marlin,
white marlin, sailfish, wahoo, dorado and both blackfin and yellowfin
tuna, are only a short run to the fishing grounds as compared to
other areas. For those in pursuit of red snapper, grouper, bonito,
